here buggy, buggy!

So...our girls are totally fascinated with bugs especially--Landry! She wants to go outside and play so she can find a bug. Today I took the girls to run a few errands and they each got a little treat. Landry's was this bug collecting contraption complete with magnifying glass, tweezers, and bug scooper tool.

The first thing the girls did when we got home was head out to the backyard in search of a bug. It took them about 2 seconds to find this little guy. Boy were they thrilled! We left the door open on the bug house when we came inside so the bug could leave when it was good and ready. Oddly enough, when I went out to check before bed, he was still in there and he was alive.

This might just be one of the best two bucks I have spent this spring! Bobby and I are just shocked at how much BOTH of the girls are into bugs right now! Firefly season should be fun this year!

y-ties

These little thingy-ma-jigs are one of Ashton's newest purchases with her own money. The student council at her school was selling them as a fundraiser for the Haiti Relief Efforts and she wanted to buy a pair. So for $4 dollars she got her some purple, sparkly, and curly new laces for her kicks.

I wasn't sure how well these things would work, but I must say that I was surprised at how tight they are and Ashton is VERY particular about her shoes being tight and not loose and floppy. Today was the first day she wore them and she was beyond thrilled!

The things they come up with amaze me sometimes and I think to myself, why didn't I think of that!

Wednesday Mornings.

Since Landry turned two in January, this is the place where she and I spend our Wednesday mornings. I can't say enough fabulous things about this swim school. Ashton took lessons there in Kindergarten until she broke her arm and did so great. We knew we wanted Landry to have lessons there too-I only wish we had started her much earlier.

Landry is VERY TWO and some days she likes swimming lessons and some days she absolutely hates it. Actually, she liked it up until she reached the 4-5 second range of being under water. Since then when it is her turn to swim from Miss Sara to me she cries up until right when she goes under. It is funny and she knows exactly when to turn it off and hold her breath!

Today however, she did great and swam like a little fish and didn't cry once AND she even KICKED while she was swimming. I think she might be figuring out that crying isn't going to get her out of it. So maybe, just maybe she is learning that crying doesn't get you what you want!

She gets to continue her skills in the summer session without Mommy in the water with her...that should be interesting to say the least!

These two sweet little two year old feet have FINALLY mastered pedaling on this bike today. And the two year old little girl these feet belong to is beyond PROUD of herself.

She can go forward and backward, she can pedal inside and outside all with a GIANT smile on her face while she says "I DOING IT, I DOING IT, I PED-A-WING MY BIKE!"

I had quite the time trying to get a picture of her feet while pedaling that wasn't blurry!

Watching one of your kids master something after they have been trying over and over is one of the BEST things ever. It only took her THREE and half months, but she got it!

Blue Skies on a weekend....wooo00-hooooo!

We took full advantage of this beautiful day today with a little yard work, planting flowers, playing outside, more pics in the bluebonnets, and Paciugo on the patio...it was awesome!

Have I mentioned that I LOVE spring?!?!

Sassy Saturday #11

I love singing! A couple of years ago Grammy and Grampy bought me a guiter for Christmas. Today I dissited to play my guiter for my mom and dad. First I just played the song I made up , then I added words to it. Landry was my dancer, then she wanted to play the gutair too so I let her! I think I'm a wonderful singer and guitar playist.

I enjoyed a my date with my littlest girl this evening, but I think she might have enjoyed holding her own coin {or quarter as she called it} for the carousel ride more.

Daddy and Ashton had their own date this evening and they both had a great time!

Dates with our little girls is totally priceless and I am loving that they enjoy our company right now!

another spring tradition!!!

I LOVE traditions and I get really stressed out when traditions don't happen and let me just tell you that I was TOTALLY and probably a little over the top stressing out about our bluebonnet tradition this year! Mother Nature seems to not like this tradition for us very much.

Taking pictures in the Texas Bluebonnets is one of my absolute faves! Bluebonnets are not around for very long and we have had weather and scheduling issues lately that has kept us from enjoying these beauties. We always try and do it with the Leonards which makes it a little more difficult.

The weather today was "iffy" and just as luck would have it, we had two spectacular days yesterday and Tuesday, but it seems that if the weather cooperates then our schedules don't.

Jodi and I decided we would try it with the girls and at least take advantage of them today even with the weather being not so great just so we could take them. Another bummer was that both Bill and Bobby were working and weren't able to join us. We are hoping to go back this weekend when it is sunny and blue skies to hopefully get some better ones and this time we will have the Daddies there to help us!

Oh how I love the TEXAS bluebonnets!

Today was a special day at Ashton's school. The Spring Book Fair is going on this week and with this comes some fun activities such as "Lunch with Someone Grand". Daddy is usually the "Someone Special" who comes on this day and Ashton totally loves it. But since Daddy was out of town with work today, Landry and I had to step in. {Landry thought she was a BIG deal today and loved every second until we had to leave school without Ashton~man oh man that wasn't fun at all}

Anyway, Ashton decided Subway would be the perfect lunch for us to bring. She was even more excited when we showed up with these cute little lunch bags. How smart and green is that? In honor of Earth Day, Subway and National Geographic Kids teamed up to give out the kids meals in these sweet little reusable bags. It actually made my life MUCH easier since these little gems were easy to carry.

Both girls were thrilled and are happy to have these adorable little pink reusable bags. LOVE it!

OB.SESS.ION

Landry's obsession. She is completely in L-O-V-E with Starfall and has been for several months now. Today she played with Daddy for a few minutes. Her fave letters to play are I, K, O, and B.
I love when she asks to play by saying, "I can play my ABCs on the commmpooootuh???"

"a woly poly"

Today the girls and I went out to the patio since the concrete guys didn't put the lid back on the sand table and it ended up FULL of water. I put them in play clothes and let them have at it. While we were out there, a little friend by the name of Roly Poly joined us. I have a certain two year old who LOVES these little guys and a seven year old is getting to the point of liking them.

It was a fun little chunk of time and I love watching the curiosity and excitement in my girls' eyes!

Knock, Knock....

Grampy loves magazines and he knows how much Ashton LOVES to read so he got her a subscription to National Geographic Kids a couple of years ago and she still gets excited when they come. She usually reads it cover to cover in the same day if she has time! This magazine is so cool. It not only has great articles that are super interesting and informative, it also has some really fun "extras".

Ashton loves it every month when she gets her two pieces of "regular" mail that is just for her. Between NGK and the Highlights magazine that Mamo and Papo got for her, she is a happy little reader!

One of the things she is really into these days is jokes...especially the ever famous Knock, Knock jokes. The only problem is that she only knows a few so she tries to make them up-tries being the key word.

Well, today she was having a blast reading a few jokes that came from her magazine. These jokes literally crack her up and it makes us laugh too!

I see a joke book coming home from the library one day soon, but for now she is entertained with the jokes she gets from her magazine.

Here is the fave joke of the day:
What did the Daddy buffalo say to his son when he left?
Bye Son!

I love this BG of mine to pieces!!!!

Fun Friday for my Hubs

My hubs loves all kinds of sports radio...he has listened to every single one in the DFW area. He has a fave morning talk show on ESPN radio...it is "Mike and Mike in the Morning".

Well, a few weeks ago he heard them advertising that his "dudes" were coming to a book store that is just down the road from where we live for a book signing. So this morning he took Ashton to school and headed on down to get a book and to see Mike and Mike in action.

It was a neat experience for him and I am so glad he did this....it was fun listening to the stories from his morning.

This little activity entertained a couple of two year olds this afternoon. It was one activity where they shared beautifully and their little convos were pure greatness. Reese and Landry had fun playing together while Ashton and Kaitlyn played "big girl "stuff.

seriously ANNOYED!

Yepper....that is what we are right now. We had the guys come and concrete our patio today. They got here around noon and left around 2:30 with no word at all...and this is what they left. They left all of their equipment here in our yard and this. We were under the impression it would be finished today-I mean it isn't that much space to begin with. When Bobby called the dude in charge at 4 he said they were planning on coming back today but they didn't.

Poor blind Buster had no idea what to make of this thing...he barely made it through just to the edge of the grass to go tee-tee.

I sure hope this is done and finished tomorrow!

Surprise!

A certain little girl in our house has been working very hard at keeping her room clean without being asked and has been so responsible. She has even started picking things up around the house without being asked.

She has been wanting this new bedding for while. She knew we had this for her when we felt she earned it. Well....today (after a few months of working hard) was the day we surprised her with it.

It was so awesome. She came home from dance, walked in her room to put her stuff away and she screamed and squealed with pure delight and shock. She is so proud of that new bedding...and she knows that I still have the flower bedding to put back on if we have a relapse but I am sure she is going to continue working hard!

ahhhhh....clean windows!

This afternoon after school, the girls and I ran to Wal Mart in search of chairs made for little girls to sit in on the patio. We were totally successful and the girls were tickled pink and purple!

While they were playing in the backyard and on the patio, I decided to clean the windows in the back of the house. I love when I clean the windows! Here is a tip: vinegar and water works wonders. This little mixture makes the windows sparkle with no streaks!

L-O-V-E!

The girls are totally loving spring time weather. They spend as many days as they can outside playing on the patio. One of the things they love the most is playing in the sand table.

Today Jodi and I spent a good portion of the day over at Gina's helping her clean the house since she sold it. She is closing tomorrow so we were happy to help. I had to leave before the work was done, but when I got home the girls were playing happily.

Not Sassy Saturday.

Ashton is taking a "personal" day from her Sassy Saturday Blogging duties. She had softball practice this morning and then she spent the rest of the day hanging out with her peeps. Grayson and Anna came over to play for almost the entire day while Miss Gina got some serious moving stuff done and then the Leonards came over for some dinner and movie night so all the kids could have some time hanging out together. This was some MUCH needed time with for the kids. They haven't seen each other in a loooonnnng time.

So I am stepping in on this Saturday. While the 5 big kids had movie night {Lan-Lan watched about 10 minutes then she went off to bed} watching Alvin and the Chipmunks 2, the grown ups played a little cards....Spades actually. It was me and Jodi vs. Bobby and Bill. We didn't get to finish our game but as the score sheet shows....Team EJ was winning!

Play Ball!

Tonight Ashton has a date with her Daddy. The semi pro baseball team in our area (The Rough Riders) is hosting a special night for the softball and baseball teams.

So....Daddy and Ashton are going to the game with her team. They are so excited to have an evening together.

once again.

I am at it once again. I am attempting to make poodle skirts for the girls. The last time I did it, Ashton was in Kindergarten and Landry was 4 months old. This time, it is going MUCH easier and thank goodness my friend, Jill, shared her sewing knowledge with me and helped guide me along.

I think they are going to be SUPER cute and I know that I have two very excited little girls on my hands. They can't wait for Family Fun Night next week to sport their 50's gear.

Today...for some reason....Landry decided that this was the BEST way to read her books...by taking each one of them out of the basket one at a time.

She "read" every single one. She not only did this ONE time today....she did it THREE times in a span of about an hour. When I told her we didn't need to take them all out at the same time, she looked at me and said, "But Mommy I READING thum. I reading my books!"

Well okay then. How do you argue with that? So when she was finished, she helped me put them back in the basket (after a lot of coaxing I might add).

I wonder if this was just for today or if this is a new thing for her. I am hoping for just today...she usually doesn't read every single one at one sitting and she usually chunks them on top of the basket rather than on the floor when she is finished.

"The Landry Smile"

I wanted to get a few pics of the girls in their matching night gowns tonight while they were dancing. They totally performed for the camera and I got some funny and really cute shots. At one point Ashton said, "Look Mommy, I am doing the Landry smile!" I love it...they were literally matching in every way!
